This young man was safe at home with an unnecessary slide. Boys like sliding into base just to get the uniform dirty and this was no exception. There was no play at home plate and the runner could have stayed on his feet, stepped on home plate and scored a run. It was a very hot and humid day; a lot of the players were wearing shorts instead of uniform pants. All the more reason to save the slide for another day.
