Bottle house

Along the west coast of Prince Edward Island is an unusual house that has become a tourist must see. The Bottle House of Prince Edward Island is located in Cap-Egmont, PEI. Our GPS unit didn't know where Cap-Egmont was but I found the town and the house. As the name implies, the Six gable house is built from bottles laid on their side and cemented in place. After building the house Edouard built a tavern, a chapel and a giant bottle. The lighting inside the buildings is way cool. Check out the web site for pictures of all the buildings.

New Brunswick Lighthouse

This was the first lighthouse I saw on my trip. This lighthouse was in the harbor where the ferry used to transport people and cargo between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. It looks like the town and it's lighthouse have become obsolete since the Confederation Bridge went into service 10 years ago.

Confederation Bridge

I'm back from my vacation ... this year I went to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton. The plane landed in Halifax, NS and I drove to PEI from New Brunswick thanks to the Confederation Bridge which connects NB and PEI. I stopped in NB to take pictures of the bridge but you have to see the bridge to appreciate the size and engineering of the bridge. The bridge is 9 miles long and the waterway freezes over in the winter. Facts about the bridge can be found here.

Fork lift name

There will not be any posts for the next two weeks. Blogger does not let me setup future posts that will publish when the date is reached and I don't have anyone to take over the blog while I am away. While I'm away you'll have to amuse yourself with other web sites or a book. Check out this photo blog to view some great pictures from Durham Township, Pennsylvania.

I think a bunch of guys sitting in a bar decided "super erection system" would be a great name for a fork lift. I'd enter that name into one of the internet search engines to find out who manufactures the fork lift but I'm afraid the search results would not be family oriented.

Pick a color, any color

When it comes to kayaks, there is a color and shape to suit everyone.

Hand print

I found this hand print at the lake. Someone picked up a big wad of mud and slapped it against the tree trunk, then they pressed their hand into the mud. There were signs of another print on the tree but the mud fell off the tree or was removed by someone.

Clean pig

This pig finished rooting around in the pig pen and decided the ground wasn't clean enough for her majesty. Since the trough was empty the pig decided to use it as a bed. There was another pig in the pen and it didn't have a problem laying in the mud.

Women's lib?

I do not drive on this road every week so I can not say when this message was written. Does anyone have a comment about the message?

Hungry horses

There were three horses among the trees along the road. After they decided I was not a threat they went back to eating the bark off the trees. Most horse owners fence off the trees so the horses don't eat the bark.

Obey the sign ... NOT

As I walked along the shore of the lake I noticed more than one person couldn't read the signs. Since we are in the middle of a very long hot spell the park rangers have turned a blind eye to the law breakers. The park must buy signs with left over funds because these signs convey the same message but the size, shape and wording is different.

Tree bark

These old trees have the strangest bark, it flakes off as the tree grows.

Back lit pictures

These are my first back lit pictures using the new camera. The new camera does not allow me to view the shot on the display and I cannot look at the sun through the lens. I framed the shot with the sun blocked and stepped aside to take the picture with my eyes closed. The results were OK for trial and error but I'll have to perfect the technique.

The pictures came out dark but using my new Photoshop software I was able to manipulated the pictures. You should expect more Photoshop manipulated pictures in the future.

Where is the car?

Behind the kids toys is a car, a very fast car, but how fast can you go when you have to move the toys to get the car out of the garage?

It seems ironic that the slow turtle hides the Porsche.
